Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan pledge to support each other if attacked

NOV. 28 2022 (The Bulletin) — Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan signed a new alliance deal that means they back each other up if the other is ever attacked. Kazakh officials said that in practice this means that if one is attacked, it can contact the other and ask for support. This is important in the current context because of Russia’s aggression and threats made against Kazakhstan. Uzbekistan has previously avoided signing up to anything close to a military alliance.
