Kyrgyz president fires mayor of Osh

NOV. 29 2022 (The Bulletin) — Kyrgyz Pres. Sadyr Japrov fired Almaz Mambetov as the mayor of Osh, the country’s second-biggest city, after media reports suggested that the police were building a criminal case against him. Mr Mambetov is an ally of Mr Japarov and before becoming mayor of Osh he had been head of the Presidential Administration. Corruption allegations have hit Mr Japrov’s administration.
