Georgian president vetoes ‘foreign agents’ law

MAY 18 2024 (The Bulletin) — Salome Zurabishvili, Georgia’s president, on Saturday vetoed a ‘foreign agents’ law that the Georgian Dream-dominated parliament had passed on Tuesday.

She said that the law should be scrapped altogether as it is “Russian in essence”. Georgian MPs are expected to ignore her and push it through regardless, fuelling protests and division.
