TASHKENT/Feb. 18 (The Bulletin) – Uzbekistan’s grey economy contributes to around a third of its total GDP, said a report prepared for Uzbek Pres. Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
It said that the grey economy made up around 65% of the agricultural, forestry and fishing sectors of the economy and 40% of the construction and services sectors.
The massive size of the grey economy poses a huge challenge for the Uzbek government as it loses out on tax receipts.
