DEC. 14 2022 (The Bulletin) — The Uzbek government hired the former chairman of Turkish Airlines, Ilker Ayci, to modernise Uzbekistan Airways. Uzbek president said that he had hired Mr Ayci, who headed Turkish Airlines from 2015 until 2022, to transform Uzbekistan Airways “from a regional to a global player”. Mr Mirziyoyev has ambitious plans for Uzbek aviation, spending millions on improving airport infrastructure. The East-West route if lucrative.
