Armenia sets up foreign intelligence service

DEC. 8 2022 (The Bulletin)  — Armenia’s parliament passed a government motion to set up a foreign intelligence service. PM Nikol Pashinyan has said that one of the reasons that Azerbaijan was able to win a 2020 war for Nagorno-Karabakh was because it maintained an element of surprise as Armenia’s intelligence gathering in Azerbaijan had been weak. By setting up a new foreign intelligence service, the Armenian government hopes to address this weakness.
